For safety reasons sometimes the curls of Holland curled ice skates were sawn off. This was the beginning of the development of the genuine rolling skates.

These are also a Holland curled ice skates  without curls. But these ice skates have never got one. It is clear that these ice skates show an industrial changeover from curled ice skates to curl less ice skates.

Although these are no doubt rolling skates the trained eye will recognise the rudiments of Holland curled skates. The skates are provided with brass heel plates for better fastening.
